In today’s real estate market, many sellers are convinced that it’s going to take forever to get their home under contract. What they don’t realize, is that many homes are still being sold every day – and a well-priced home has a good chance of selling quickly.
Which brings me to the call I received this morning. A young couple with a toddler and an infant put their home on the market three weeks ago (not with me). It is now under contract, and settling at the end of August.
The couple is thrilled it sold so quickly, but totally unprepared to move on. They are going to rent, not buy. So they ask their Realtor about rentals they could get into by settlement date. The Realtor’s answer?
“Sorry, I don’t do rentals.”
End of story. No referral. No nothing.
Now I’m not going to jump up and down and say I love doing rentals – but I couldn’t imagine leaving a client hanging out to dry like that! After an easy as pie transaction, to boot? I’d be ashamed of myself if that was my rely.
Thank goodness they found me. I look forward to finding them a rental. And then selling them their next home when they’re ready to re-enter the market next year.
I'm still scratching my head over this one. Is this any way to treat a client?
