Mark your calendars -- This Tuesday (5/18/2010) is International Museum Day. To celebrate, The Philadelphia Museum of Art will be open to the public free of charge. It's normally $16 for adult admission.
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is one of the country's premier art museums. If you have never been, it's something you really ought to see. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, with selected galleries open until 8:45 p.m. on Fridays.
Additionally, the museum also administers two historic houses in Fairmount Park -- Mount Pleasant and Cedar Grove. Both of these historic houses will also be open free of charge on International Museum Day.
We are blessed in the Philadelphia region to have such cultural icons as Independence Hall, the Libery Bell, Valley Forge National Park and so much more. With so much to do, it's not surprising for locals to miss some of the great spots like the museum and historic houses. So come visit on Tuesday -- and get in for free!
