Strahm Sells!

I Don't Get Skeeved Out . . . Often

I don't get skeeved out.  Well, not often.  It takes a lot to send that shiver of revulsion up my spine.

Now we all know that people keep their homes at different levels of cleanliness during the showing process.  And I might remind everyone, cleanliness sells!

So I'm showing a home this morning.  A smaller town home in a great neighborhood.  The kitchen has a space for a small table.  The owners have opted to use this space for an open kitty litter box.  I am not skeeved out yet.  Personally, I would never keep a kitty litter box in the same room where I prepare food or eat -- but like I said, I have a pretty high threshold for skeeviness.

So what did me in?  It wasn't a smelly litter box.  It didn't have mounds of "tootsie rolls" sitting in it.

What did me in was the pot rack above it.  Yes, the rack that held the owners cooking implements. And the kitty litter scooper.  Let me repeat that.

And the kitty litter scooper!

I shudder just looking at the picture.  That is revolting.

Add another home to the list -- the list of homes I would never eat in!

This MLS Photo Freaks Me Out!

This may just be the freakiest MLS photo I've ever seen! A doll slightly scarier than Chuckey, doing a Linda Blair head spin. Why, oh why would someone post this as a marketing photo on the MLS? While photos don't sell homes, they do create… more

I'm not a fan

I'm not a fan. But I play one on TV (or, in this case, on the MLS). You've heard it once, you've heard it a million time -- "Your first showing will be on the Internet. " So it's essential that you stage for your photographs. … more

I'm not a Trash Man, but I'd have moved the garbage cans before taking this -- the main listing photo -- I just can across on our MLS. This is a nice, upscale home in (what I always thought was) a well-tended development. &… more

Get That House a Box of Kleenex! I think. Only I don't know what to think! I love MLS typos and glaring proof reading errors. And I can usually figure out what was really meant. But this one has me scratching my head: .. more

Peek-a-boo, I see you! But I really shouldn't. People have no place in MLS photos. Our local MLS forbids pictures with people in them. But I still see them! Please practice this line, "Excuse me - I can see you in the… more
